Established in 1898 in Toledo, Ohio the Conklin Pen Company quickly revolutionised the world of fountain pens with their patented Crescent Filler, and thus the first self-filling fountain pen in 1901.
By 1921 the crescent filler was the best selling pen on the market and had previously been praised by American writer Mark Twain who described it as a 'profanity saver' as the crescent shape of filler mechanism ensures it would never roll of his desk.
