How can I tell if the item I want can be engraved?
Each engravable item has the 'Engravable' image logo clearly marking every item that can be engraved.
How long does engraving add to my order despatch time?
We usually despatch orders received before 12pm the same day however there may be a slightly longer lead time with larger orders.
How do I tell you I would like my item engraved?
On the product page, simply choose the engraving options and fill in your engraving details when prompted by adding your engraving message into the text box, choose your font styles then click add to cart. If you have any special requests, please feel free to call us on 0203 371 0226.
How many characters can I engrave on my item?
The amount of characters we can engrave varies depending on the space available on each item. Each engravable product has a character limit which is defined on the product page next to the engraving message text box.
If you would like more characters engraved on an item please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call on 0203 371 0226 and we will try to accommodate the request.
Which Font Can I choose?
We have a selection of fonts show below which can be engraved in upper and lower case. We would not recommend using the Monotype Corsiva font in all upper case, with the exception of initials, as they become slightly hard to read. We do also have other fonts available so if you have any special font requests please let us know and we can try and accommodate these.
Where will my pen be engraved?
Each pen differs in size and shape so the position of the engraving will also differ between pens with it either being engraved on the cap or the barrel depending on where the engraver judges the best place to be.
Where possible we engrave the pen from left to right so it is visible when a right handed person holds the pen.
If you would like to request the engraving in a specific location then please send us an email or give us a call as soon as you have placed your order.
Can I have my pen engraved for a left handed person?
Yes sure almost all of our pens can have the engraving orientated the other way for a left handed person. If you would like to request this please drop us an email or give us a call as soon as you have placed your order.
Can I have my company logo engraved?
Yes we can engrave most logos, depending on the complexity of the design, onto a range of our gifts including pens. For further information on this please send us an email with your company logo and we can work with you to meet your specifications.
What will the engraving look like?
The nature of engraving means that every pen will engrave slightly differently depending upon factors such as material, colour and base metal. If a pen has a stainless steel finish, then there will be no base metal and the engraving will be laser marked onto the metal itself. This is an engraving process which removes the carbon from the stainless steel surface to create a black engrave mark and will show as a dark grey colour.
If however the pen has a lacquer, paint or plastic coat finish then the engraving will etch through this surface and the base metal will show through. Thus the engraving will show as either silver, gold, dark grey or even white.
For example Parker Pens with a lacquer finish will engrave in gold regardless of their trim colour being gold or silver, as their base metal is gold in colour. This is the same for Waterman lacquer finished pens. They will always engrave as a gold colour whether their trim is gold or silver.
Please see some examples of the engraving finish on different pens. If you would like to see examples of any other pens please let us know and we will gladly send over an image.
Parker Jotter Stainless Steel & Gold Trim Ballpoint Pen
Steel is a very hard material and the traditional drag engraving method, where the engraving is etched into the surface with a diamond tip, cannot be used on brushed and stainless steel items.
Instead these pens are laser engraved using the latest in laser engraving technology. The laser engraving is a permanent mark created in the surface of the material which produces a very dark grey finish with a sleek sheen. All of the stainless steel pens we retail including the steel Parker Jotter pen range popular Waterman Hemisphere Stainless Steel Pen collection will be engraved in this way.
This particular pen has been engraved in the Copper Light Gothic font style which is a clear all capital font style and a great choice for initials and company names.
Parker IM Blue Chrome Trim Rollerball Pen
If a pen has a lacquered finish then the engraving will etch through this lacquered surface and the base metal will show through. On the popular Parker IM Pen range the barrel is crafted from brass, which gives the pen a nice weighty feel, so the engraving shows as a light gold colour.
This particular Blue Parker IM has been engraved with a short name in the Times New Roman font style which is a clear serif typeface and a great choice for any professionals or companies.
Harvard Metallic Blue & Gold Ballpoint Pen
These Harvard Blue Ballpoint pens come with a metal barrel which gives them a weighty, balanced feel in your hand.
The engraving process removes the blue lacquer finish to reveal to the gold colour beneath.
This particular pen has been engraved with a company logo for an event. A personalised pen with your company name is a great way to promote your business.
